Horse Lovers Weekend
Information for Participants and Volunteers

Volunteers: Thank you for volunteering for this event.  All volunteers need to fill in a Volunteer Registration and Model Release Form for Upper Canada Village.  If you have already submitted this form the information will be passed on to the registration tent for each day that you will be volunteering.  If you have not yet sent in your form, you can drop them off at Drogheda Manor Equestrian Centre or bring them with you when you arrive.  You will be given an arm bracelet for each day of the event.  It is necessary to register each day.  This will provide you with free admission to the village and provide you with insurance under the village insurance policy.
Note: One person can submit a list of all volunteers in your group, with appropriate forms for your entire group.  This will save time at registration.  Contact Garry Meek at droghedamanor@xplornet.comif you want to submit the names of all in your group.
Minors:  Persons under the age of 18 should have a designated supervisor.  A free bracelet will be provided to the supervisor as well if the proper paper work is filled in.

Access to village:  Take Hwy #2 west from Ingleside, Ontario or east from Morrisburg, Ontario and turn south on the east side of the main administration building across from the golf course.  Follow the road in and turn left at the stop sign.  The trailer parking area will be indicated.  (just on the left in the wooded field area)  If you are making more than one trailering run, continue on and make a turn around at the motorcoach parking area.  Staff will indicate to you the access route to take your horse(s) to the village fairground, the site of the Natural Horsemanship Fair.  Trailers are not allowed in the village and you are encouraged to arrive early enough to get your tack etc. to the site before 9:30 AM when the village opens.  A vehicle will be provided for you if you need assistance to more gear, but it must be moved prior to the deadline or you will have to carry in your gear.
Departure from the village takes place at 5:30 PM.

Horses:  If you are bringing horses to the event, you must have a current coggins report to present to village registration staff.  Once your horses are off loaded, you will need to walk them to the fairground.  Staff will indicate the way.
If you are bringing horses, you must provide your own buckets.  A water source is available in the park as well as hay.  There will be no community water troughs allowed.

If you need stabling or accommodation, please let us know as soon as possible.

Events:  The event this year at the fair is organized as an educational, entertaining experience as well as a new competition.   This year there will be one main event arena, Arena Grande in which all presentations and competitions will be staged.  The Arena will be set up for the Horseman's Challenge with various obstacles and a round pen where Competitors and presentators will be practicing their skills.  Horsetalker will provide commentary about what is going on so that audience members will have a better appreciation of what natural horsemanship is all about.

Horses of all sizes and breeds will be in attendance.  Presenters from 8 years to 65 years old will be present.
