Welcome to Krystali's Page
Rachel McWhirter, and her best friend Krystali Her first horse.

Krystali's short story at Drogheda Manor.
Krystali came to us in Nov. of 2010, a wonderful gift of Lynn Cassels-Caldwell, her owner and companion for some 16 years. She wanted her to experience, 'horse universary' as Wayne Balfour put it. When she arrived, it was some time before she began to trust her new surroundings. She was high spirited, fearful, highly skeptical, but full of life. She began to respond to a young girl's love and understanding. She was the first horse that we had a horsenality report done by Linda Parelli. Rachel took that report of our extreme right brained extrovert and began to apply the principles and techniques to Krystali's training. In February of 2010, Jonathan Field, visited Drogheda Manor and Rachel and Krystali took a lesson from Jonathan. He warned Rachel that her nature could make her a very dangerous horse to work with but gave her some ideas on how to approach her training. She was told to expect it to take a couple of months to see some changes. Rachel threw herself into Krystali's training and made a break through in just one week. From there, things started to change. It became obvious that a special partnership was beginning to form between them and on June 11, Krystali was presented to Rachel for her birthday.
It became obvious to me that this was the right match for the both of them. When she came down with founder, we were advised to get her to lie down in her stall to try and relieve thepressure on her foot. With Rachel's help she learned to lie down and for awhile we thought we were making progress, but alas things turned for the worse in the end. Even through her discomfort, this valiant mare, ventured out beyond her stall looking for her human friends. For a horse that at one point would not let you in her stall, to see her lying there with all her loving admirers gathered around her and her fully at ease with their attention, is a credit to the special partnership.
She will be indelibly etched upon all our hearts forever. Farewell faithful friend.

Krystali - passed on to heavenly pastures on Jan. 26, 2011 at the age of 17. She was a most noble and spirited lady who has touched us all deeply.
Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
